Determination of viscosity of polymer by using Ubbelohde viscometer

Abstract: viscosity experiment notes: 1) the temperature of constant temperature water bath has a great influence on viscosity measurement. 1. Basic principles
1.1, the viscosity of polymer solutions has the following definitions:

Matters needing attention

Introduction
IVS800H AutomaticHigh TemperatureViscometer was designed for testing the intrinsic viscosity and viscosity average molecular weight of PE, PP and their copolymers and ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene at temperature 135 degree. It was applied our company’s new independent innovation Z shape ubbelohde viscometer (Patent No.: ZL 201320467957.8). By adding the sample from below, it can automatically determine the level height, simplified the automatic sampling, automatic cleaning and other operations, easy to achieve full automatic testing.




Features
The Z shape ubbelohde viscometer (Patent No.: ZL 201320467957.8) is IVS800H’s Core components. We are added the sample from below. We use the sample bottle replacing the liquid storage ball. The Z shape ubbelohde viscometer works together with 6 units constant temperature sample tray and sample syringe. This machine can achieve sampling, replacing, washing, drying automatically. It meets the ISO1628-3 and GB/1632-3 stander. It can not only deals with Single Point experiment, but also can do linear extrapolation test. Extrapolation software program is also the first in the country.

Solubility
PVB is soluble in alcohols, ketones, esters and other solvents. The solubility of various solvents varies according to the composition of the functional groups of the PVB itself. In general, all alcohol solvent soluble, but methanol for high acetal is insoluble; the higher the acetal group were more soluble in ketones and esters solvent solvent; PVB were soluble in ether (Cellosolve) solvent; PVB only partially dissolved in xylene and toluene aromatic solvent; PVB insoluble in hydrocarbon solvents (Hydrocarbon).

Viscosity characteristics of PVB solutions

Dissolution method of PVB
