What’s the Function of a,b,c Tube of Ubbelohde Viscometer

Abstract: B tube is the main part, used to do the flow, and measures the flow time of liquid. The C tube is used to connect the air so that the liquid in the B tube becomes suspended, which reduces turbulence and allows the liquid to flow freely along the wall, resulting in higher accuracy. A tube is filled with liquid. When the fluid is flowing by external force, there is a tangential internal friction between the flowing liquid layers, and if the liquid is to pass through the tube, a portion of the work must be consumed to overcome the resistance of the flow. When the flow rate is low, the liquid in the tube is advanced in a straight line parallel to the tube wall. The liquid closest to the tube wall is actually stationary, and the farther the distance from the tube wall is, the greater the velocity.

B tube is the main part, used to do the flow, which measured the distance from the flow of time.
The liquid closest to the tube wall is actually stationary, and the distance from the wall is farther and the flow rate is. The tangential force between the flow layers f and the contact area between the two layers A and the speed difference
Δv is proportional to, and inversely proportional to the distance Δx between the two layers:
Where, η is the proportion coefficient, called the viscosity of the liquid coefficient, referred to as viscosity.
The molar mass of the polymer not only reflects the size of the polymer molecule, but also directly related to its physical properties, is an important basic parameter. Unlike conventional inorganic or low molecular organic matter, the polymer is mostly macromolecular mixture of different molar mass, so the measured molar mass of polymer is usually a statistical average.
